Hey, Livejournal. It's been awhile.

I still use this space for locked posts, which I usually use for writing fiction on, but for awhile there, I was also using them to cry about some dumb thing I was going through. It was pretty melodramatic and sort of pathetic, but by this point, it's actually no longer an issue, so I'm pretty pleased with myself and my growth, if that's what you'd call it.

I'm still using Tumblr (and am still thisintermezzo over there), and am doing my miscellaneous nerding and whatever. I also made an Ion askblog! Hahaha. Good times.

I'm... not really sure what to say, but on the off chance someone still checks by once in awhile, I wanted you to know I'm okay and that I'm still sort of invisibly here. I've also neatly archived all my AniseIon fics, if anyone's interested--they're over here.

Wow, it feels kind of good to make a long post and use HTML freely, haha. Anyway, I'll be around! Take care, you guys!

I was going to whine about this on Tumblr, but the format here is much better for it. Sorry, DW/LJ. I don't really think anyone reads this, though, so it's probably okay?

I've started hardcore cleaning my room so I can put in new furniture. This means my bed is now in the livingroom so I can move shelves out away from walls and clean behind them, etc.

Anyway, copy pasta from Tumblr (which I've deleted).

On a scale of one to hopeless I'm starting to wonder how seriously cleanable my room is. I’m around half-done and I’m honestly not sure if it looks all that much better. I mean, I know it’s cleaner because I practically bleached the floor and walls, but it doesn’t really look different. :U

The new furniture should help, but it’s also *bigger* furniture, which means the space problems are going to get worse in some areas.

I’m recycling all that paper without even looking through it, though. Freaking grade 8 art. It’s probably a bunch of unironic emo Sonic art and Evanescence lyrics. That’s potentially hilarious, but it’s all gross and dusty and not worth it.

I haven't made any public entries for awhile and it looks really weird when I'm logged in, hahaha. These days, I'm basically just writing badfics on locked entries on here before migrating finished/decent stuff over to my fic journal. LJ is pretty much dead these days, isn't it? :C

That makes me sad, honestly. I like it here a lot, even in the eeeeeerie silence.

I hope everyone's having a good winter so far. :>

thedivertimento is my badfic journal. I really went there. Help. :U

It's mostly just me reposting old stuff at the moment, plus original fic, which is all new but boring to anyone who isn't me or Azzy. I did do one Tales of the Abyss drabble that's new, though. It's all organized decently on the table of contents if you're curious.

(Does anyone read this anymore? Oh well.)

Oh god, there's some people across the street with a little girl like three years old who keeps shrieking at intervals of five seconds. Whyyyy. It's really high-pitched, too, almost like a whistle.

Apologies for not updating more. I've been writing a little on a locked post on my LJ, though, and I might go through with my idea of making an LJ/DW/whatever for my badfics, original and otherwise. (I'm leaning towards LJ, since it has better layouts.) I'd link to it here and some other places. I dunno. I WILL CONTINUE TO DISABLE COMMENTS LIKE A CHICKEN THERE, TOO. WORRY NOT, INTERNET.

I actually got a little further in Xenoblade! I was really busy for awhile there, however, and so my gaming hasn't advanced very much. I got further in PS3 Eternal Sonata, if it's any consolation to anyone, and I should be able to make one last post about the PS3 vs 360 versions after I slog on to the ending. I'm presently slouching my way through Mt. Rock, so I'm almost there.

Almooooost.

I got my computer back last... Friday, I think, and completely forgot to update. I'm not entirely sure who actually reads any of this, if anyone, though, so I don't think it's too big a problem, haha. It serves as sufficient Nerd Thought Space, and that is good enough for me.

Anyway, as I said, my harddrive failed. Toshiba replaced it, but I had to pay for the postage one way. I learned from this, basically, that Nintendo has better-than-average customer service. (Oh, and that UPS is dumb and I am never attempting to use it again.) Go, Nintendo! I should send them complimentary fanmails for their customer service people. I can't even imagine what kinds of weird, crazy, angry people they have to deal with, probably every day.

I was using my PC while it was gone, which was, uh, productivity-limiting. I could be on Skype and nothing else, or the internet and nothing else.

I caught up on The Legend of Korra with my newly restored powers of sound and stable CPU memory, and... didn't really like the end, though I almost cried for some reason (?). I don't know. It was an entertaining show, but it just isn't on the same level as its predecessor.

I'm also caught up on Homestuck. Calliope, you are a sweetheart and I feel so awful for you. :[

Having technical difficulties, but my laptop is still under warranty, so it should be okay somewhat shortly. Uh, I might try to post here while I'm using my PC, but it doesn't save drafts automatically for some reason.

Anyway, if I disappear from your range of sight for awhile (notably on Skype), that's what's up!

Also, in case you ever doubted it, UPS is dumb and frustrating and af;lkgjt don't try to use it from in Canada. The end. :|

PSN demos, yeah!

Tetris: As far as I know, there's no version of Tetris available from the Nintendo e-Shop, so I checked this out instead. They tried to make it "modern", I guess, and it looks kind of weird and blah. The core gameplay is unaffected, obviously, and there are multiple game modes. You can watch people who don't suck play it, too, and holy snap, they're amazing. I tried to learn a few things from those guys, but they make it look much easier than it is. (I got one huge combo by trying to follow their playstyles before losing horribly.) It's like $13 (for the full game), though, which seems like a lot...

Sonic 4, Ep. 2: I complained about Episode 1, but this one was supposedly better and had Tails in it, so I checked it out anyway. Free demos don't hurt me. :9 Anyway, the graphics are markedly less hideous and Saturn-era, which makes the game more visually appealing, and this time I didn't always spin dash when I meant to jump, which means... something? The controls still feel loose, though, and Sega doesn't even let you play through an entire level before being like LOL BUY THIS.

Skull Girls: I kept seeing official art from this on Tumblr, so I checked it out. I'm not using an HD TV, though, and had a horrible time trying to read any on-screen text. The character selection screen was especially bad for this. I really don't recommend trying to play if you're not using a super crisp TV. I just have a flatscreen and it was pretty much like trying to read squiggles. :U

The 1940s (?) music/visual theme is really great, and the backgrounds and character animations are excellent. However, I'm god-awful at fighting games, and got very little out of my attempts to mash my way through a battle. Thanks to the menu problem, I was only about 40% sure which character I was, which made things pretty bad, and I seemed to have a... teammate, or an extra girl I could switch to. (I remember being asked to pick two, but I assumed I was picking myself and my opponent.) I was pretty confused and so I didn't have a very good time of it, but it *looks* pretty solid? It had sort of a Guilty Gear feel to it.

I checked out the controls screen (which I could read!) and thought the control mapping was kind of stupid, but again, I know next to nothing about this style of fighter, so this could be standard. If anyone more versed in the field plays this, let me know what you think.

TIME TO HORDE MORE DEMOS

Oh, and unrelated, but I'm probably going to end up posting a bunch of inter-related little OC one-shots, since those seem to be cooperative and actually maybe not barf-worthy! \o/

I haven't played Tales of Destiny, but I've been reading the manga in French. Anyway, in Tales of Graces, you get character cards of the casts from the other Tales Of games. I got all the Tales of Destiny ones, and...

W-what the hell? Why are their names so different? I Wikipedia'd it just to check. How did Johnny become Karyl? I mean, I guess you could justify it because he's a bard, which is passable, but what I really don't understand is how Woodrow became Garr.

wuhhhhh old localizations are baffling

Oh, and ToG ending stuff.

Spoilers! Spoilers in the cut text!Collapse )

Got a little further in Xenoblade and totally forgot what I wanted to say about it. Oh well, I'll stick it in the next post. :V

I recently found the company that localized the more recent Tales Of games (8-4 Ltd.), and the totally amazing (smaller) company that was responsible for other shining beacons of localization, such as FFXII. It's called Kajiya Productions. Aaah, I'm so excited about all these company pages! Oh, and Aksys Games (another localiz...er?) has an online shop, which, unsurprisingly, has really awesome item descriptions. They also sell shirts with their logo and ohmygodIwant. Then when people ask me what Aksys Games is, I can tell them about localization! (Honestly, that's probably a conversation no one but me wants to have, but I love talking about it. OTL)

I want to send them all fanmail.

Um, mostly unrelated, but I've been plodding through some pretty honestly god-awful romantic (original) badfic, but it looks like it might be sort of long and I'm considering posting it in pieces as I get reasonable chunks done. They don't really constitute "chapters" as far as I'm concerned. I'm just wondering if anyone on the face of the earth besides Azzy wants to read this thing, haha.

I'll probably just wimp out and not post it, but at least you've been warned.
