Unsorted
I'm not a Tales of buff, so I don't recognize all the cameos I've found. If you know which games these are for, please tell me!

(NONE AT THE MOMENT)

I am not including general "Tales of" recurrences like Aifread or the Flamberge, so please don't mention them. :'D

Oh, I know. I just can't really confirm at this point. :'D

Besides, I'm going to try to get some screencaps. You know those enemies are made of win.

Here's a few others...

Eternia: One of the cameo battles in Nordopolica's 200-man melee is against Shizel.

Destiny 2: There's a monster called Judasey (Northern Sulzanni Islands), which wears Judas's mask and has the design from his outfit on its back.
One of the cameo battles in Nordopolica's 200-man melee is against Barbatos Geotia.

Symphonia: At the inn in Halure, there's a flyer about a contest to draw Lloyd.
The secret dungeon's boss is Kratos, and he's one of the cameo battles in Nordopolica's 200-man melee.

Abyss: In Nam Cobanda Isle's gym, at the back where the prizes are displayed, you can see Anise's Tokunaga.

Items that are part of the cameos: Cheagle Fur, Fonstone, Fragment of Hyper-resonance, Dhaos's Cape, Shizel's Necklace, Barbatos's Ring, Arredoval (Kratos's shield). Also, I'm not positive if this one counts on the cameo scale or not, but Judith has a weapon named Dunamis, which was Kyle and Loni's last name in Tales of Destiny 2.

Multiple: Tokunaga could actually be a reference to either Anise's doll or Seles Wilder's caretaker. I don't remember if the name showed up in any of other titles in the series.
When Yuri's in jail at the start of the game, he overhears Raven telling a story; during this, Raven mentions the thieves' guild (The Dark Wings). Karol mentions them again later, pointing out that they have only three members. The name actually pops up in multiple Tales of games (Rebirth and Abyss for sure, and I think Destiny 2). The theme is recurring, and the translation of the name could change from "Dark Wings" to "Black Wings" in some of the games.

Forgot a couple...

Phantasia: One of Estelle's attachments is Mint's Cap.

Destiny 2: One of Rita's attachments is a mask of Harold Beslerius's face.

Abyss: Yuri's tank top for his Tank Top Lover costume title has Mieu on it.

Multiple: The mask stand in Nam Cobanda Isle has the Harold and Mieu masks, as well as one other that I forget offhand.

Ooh, wonderful! I'll add them all. Thanks! ♥

Arche! ♥

I'll be looking forward to seeing these when I play the game.
Griffin: Doctor Jade[info]griffins on October 20th, 2008 05:25 pm (UTC)
I know there's a Destiny reference when you go to speak with the Elder in illusionary Yormgen and spend the night. The next day Estelle says he told a story about a girl who helped save the world with a pan and ladle, referencing Lilith's weapon. I don't remember the exact wording of the scene now, though.
Sage of Winds: Happy[info]sagesoren on October 20th, 2008 05:30 pm (UTC)
Oh good! I remember that, and although I realized it was a cameo at the time, I had no idea which game it was for. Thanks! Added!
Biyokomon: green smile[info]brazen_heart on October 20th, 2008 06:22 pm (UTC)
Heh, I wasn't inspired to make animated versions of the others because they weren't half as creepy as Gentlemieu.

I did make an animated gif of Judasey, though - here it is, if you want to put it into your list.
Evyyyy: dandelions[info]glasscap on October 20th, 2008 07:16 pm (UTC)
Rebirth - When the group gathers information on the Rhybgaro in Capua Nor, a boy mentions something about a lady doctor with glasses and a white wolf puppy, most likely being a reference to Dr. Curia and her Gajuma assistant Misha.

Also, the Dark Wings were also in Tales of Rebirth :D
hoa_dao[info]hoa_dao on October 20th, 2008 07:21 pm (UTC)
The Dark Wings first came from Destiny actually. XD
I like watching people.[info]ex_gaylordia667 on October 20th, 2008 07:51 pm (UTC)
For Abyss: There's a rappig statue on Nam Cobanda Isle.
Biyokomon: perhaps[info]brazen_heart on October 20th, 2008 08:28 pm (UTC)
Isn't there also rappig steak in the waiter mini-game?
Laenavesse: Tamaki - King~~[info]laenavesse on October 21st, 2008 02:34 am (UTC)
lol there is. I laughed. A lot.
Nadia DeWynter: god general jade[info]ladynadiad on October 20th, 2008 07:54 pm (UTC)
In Torim harbor, there is a guy in the lighthouse who refers to Ailfread, that would also be an Eternia cameo (Chat is Ailfread's granddaughter).
Arii~ // Gumdrops: Good morning~ {Grune}[info]jadax on October 20th, 2008 08:08 pm (UTC)
Aifread is also the legendary pirate in Symphonia. He's also in Legendia as a adventurer who found rare monsters. I believe he was also in Phantasia as a legendary pirate as well though I'm not quite sure on that.
Nadia DeWynter: cantabile[info]ladynadiad on October 20th, 2008 08:33 pm (UTC)
But the way the reference was worded in ToV, I think it was Eternia that was being referenced, Chat more specifically. There was also a child in the lighthouse who was mentioned as a grandchild of Ailfread, didn't mention that part because I don't know the exact phrasing of how it was said, or whether the child was even a boy or a girl.

Though we all know I'm definitely not as up on Symphonia and Legendia, and well being unable to find Phantasia doesn't help that one either.
みゆき[info]asamidori on October 20th, 2008 10:18 pm (UTC)
Aifread has been around since Phantasia SFC, though.
Sage of Winds[info]sagesoren on October 20th, 2008 11:07 pm (UTC)
In which case, I won't mention Aifread. He's really just a recurring thing, then, kind of like Cid in Final Fantasy.
みゆき[info]asamidori on October 20th, 2008 10:53 pm (UTC)
Continuing from the comm post, since I forgot to put stuffs there.

Eternia
- Last Fencer. Rid's sword. In the game, the scabbard for Last Fencer is actually modeled after Rid's cloths.

Symphonia
- Abbyssion. Fall Arm for Yuri.
- Belius. Cameo of Verius(Velius?). In JP versions, the other connection was that they both have the same VA, Kujira. (Verius' being in Ratatosk.)

Abyss
- Nebilim. Fall Arm for Raven.
- In the oasis town (still can't remember EN names), after Zaude talk to the woman around the lake(?)... Natalia, you're scary.

General
- Guild city, one of the pubs, piano, Sakuraba.
- Yeager second fight. Tales titles. Destiny, eternality, fantasy, symphony, abyss, and legend are the ones I can pick up. (He said every title in the JP version.)

Edit: Typo, cross-reference Yeager battle with JP video for titles. EN missed Rebirth completely.

Sage of Winds[info]sagesoren on October 20th, 2008 11:10 pm (UTC)
I won't include the Nebilim thing as an Abyss cameo; that was in Symphonia, too, so it's possibly just a recurring name. I caught the Sakuraba thing, too, but I don't think it counts for this list. :'D

Also, what's a "Fall Arm"? Obviously the term changed for the English version, so you kind of lost me. D:
みゆき[info]asamidori on October 20th, 2008 11:14 pm (UTC)
Actually, if you read Nebilim's description, it's definitely pointing to that Nebilim from Abyss. (Even the color of the weapon indicates it.)

Oops, Fell Arm. typoed that as well. >_>;;; Basically they're weapons that'll power up after you beat the "hidden" boss.
Sage of Winds[info]sagesoren on October 20th, 2008 11:19 pm (UTC)
Ohhhhh. I don't have it yet, so I couldn't check. X'D

If that's the case, though, I'll definitely add it. Thank you!

So... perhaps the Fell Arms were localizeed as Devil's Arms? Either way, I'll probably find them myself, and then my additions will be super clear. C:

I'm a bit of a Tales noob. 8D
みゆき[info]asamidori on October 20th, 2008 11:24 pm (UTC)
Nah, they're called something else in the JP version. They're called Fell Arms in the EN version.

DO NOT COLLECT THEM if this is your first playthrough. Seriously, don't.
Sage of Winds[info]sagesoren on October 20th, 2008 11:51 pm (UTC)
Oh. I haven't found any yet, which is why I was unaware.

I guess it's a bad idea for some reason? Too hard? D:
みゆき[info]asamidori on October 20th, 2008 11:59 pm (UTC)
Pretty much. Just remember that there are 7 out there, as long as you don't have all 7, it's gonna be OK.

More Cameos
Two of Rita's weapons are Nova and One World- The first and strongest weapons for Genis from Tales of Symphonia
(Anonymous) on March 9th, 2009 02:41 am (UTC)
The one with the Spiky Blonde hair
I think it means Kyle. If I recall.....he really wants to be one. Also, you put Shizel's Necklace under Tales of Destiny 2.
Sage of Winds[info]sagesoren on March 9th, 2009 02:56 am (UTC)
Re: The one with the Spiky Blonde hair
That was a dumb mistake. Thanks for pointing it out! And I'll bump up the quote thing. Thank you!
(Anonymous) on May 1st, 2009 02:36 am (UTC)
Sorry for this late comment...
"- In Capua Nor, someone says, "'If you mix foreign animals in an area, this disrupts the local ecosystem.' ...At least, that's what the tied blue-hair, cool, bad-mouthed student said..." (Is this Chester? I can't tell.)"

I believe that is a reference to Tales of Eternia. Keele is a blue haired university student, but I can't remember if he was a bad mouth. :(
Sage of Winds: Umbrella[info]sagesoren on May 1st, 2009 04:12 pm (UTC)
No problem! I'm always updating this, so I don't mind. :9

And... I'll put that in tentatively. Thank you!
